Orlando, the surfing capital of the East Coast?

Well, probably not! Nor is it somewhere that you would consider for your surfing vacation.  However, if you have ever considered surfing and want to give it a try, where better to get lessons than under the watchful eye of Mickey Mouse.

Yes, thats right, you can get surfing lessons at Walt Disney World.  Typhoon Lagoon opens early at certain times for surfing lessons in their controlled wave pool.  Perfect waves are formed every 90 seconds.  Lessons last 2.5 hours (half an hour land instructions and 2 hours in the water. )

Currently the lessons cost $150 per person (ages 8 and up), however guests are welcome to spectate.  The cost does not include admission to Typhoon Lagoon for the day, so if you are not tired out after 2 hours of surfing and want to play in Typhoon Lagoon for the day, you will need to purchase tickets.

Class sizes are small and book up fast, so call (407) WDW-PLAY or (407) 939-7529 to make a reservation.

Surf Lessons include:

  • 2 professional instructors per class
  • Maximum of 12 Guests per class
  • Soft sided surfboard for use during your lesson
  • 30 minutes of instruction on land
  • 2 hours of surf time in the water

The wave pool can also be rented for private events.  Call 407) WDW-SURF or (407) 939-7873 for more information on renting for a private event.
